From acanthus to zinnia - a comprehensive catalogue for magnificent flowerbeds in every type of garden and climate.
Although hardly actual "pocket" size, this is book is a really handy reference to a huge variety of annual and perennial plants, assuming you either know the scientific or common name. It does take some time to use it to identify a plant if you know neither, but with the excellent color photos, even that can be done with patience. It is especially useful for the summaries of growing requirements and regions. And for everyone who likes to spend winter evenings browsing seed catalogs, this is an even better browse! So many good ideas for just the right plant! I've given copies to my daughter and daughter-in-law who live in far different parts of the country and they've both found it VERY useful. It's almost required in any flower gardener's library! (And fun to just look through for ideas.)
